So long, Marco

Unsurprisingly, Marco Silva has declined the invitation to manage City in the Championship, and is drawing to a close a brief but ardent love affair.

He didn’t quite manage his “miracle” of overcoming Ehab’s epic summer of negligence and keeping City in the Premier League, but to get as close as he did (while beating Liverpool and Manchester United) was impressive enough.

City fans are now condemned to watch him aim for greatness elsewhere, while we undertake yet another managerial search under the inept Allam family and fret endlessly about the future.

So long Marco, and thanks for trying. It was fun while it lasted.

Indeed it was fun while it lasted, that is till the last 3 games. It would be interesting to find out what went wrong near the end from one of the team, or had they just rode their luck. Who next,Andrea Stramaccioni ?

I’m hoping he at least goes to another Premier League club so we can judge whether he is actually a good manager or just over-hyped.
His last 3 games (+ his away form) cast a huge shadow over his managerial skills.

I just think 1 crack at the championship would of been that little bit of loyalty to a club that gave him a chance when nobody else would he was even getting knock backs from championship teams ie forest.. Wolves.. Now he’s become a sort after manager all down to city giving him that chance.. If raffa can manage in the 2nd tier don’t see why he can’t.. Them last 3 games probably convinced me he’s very average at best

Record breaking stuff from Marco. Two games, 11 goals conceded. We’ll not see his like again.

Tend to agree with Bill above. Couldn’t get the team set up or motivated for the crucial games. The last selection reminded me of an SB brain fart or some of PB’s gambles. Indecision seemed to worm its way in after the Portugal training session. Chalk and cheese home and away… Suspect inexperience of the PL showed in this respect.
