PODCAST: TWTWT Podcast 140

We glossed over the Man City defeat and talked glowingly and lengthily about the win over Middlesbrough, because we wanted to. And why not? Plus we talk about the run-in and Marco Silva’s contract situation, and reminisce on previous visits to Stoke, which involve penalties, Cruyff turns, flying mud and wiping bottoms with towels.

The Stoke being promoted the same season as City comment is telling. Stoke have been solidly in the Premiership while we have been all over the place.

City really could have managed the last 9 years far better.

From a West Brom fan (via The Guardian) on yo-yo to mainstay qualities in the Premiership:

West Brom were the proverbial yo-yo club, and based on their experience the key is to hold on to those players whose contracts allow it, and keep the same manager. It is really important to recruit players who are committed to the cause rather than short term mercenaries. Carson/Foster Olsson, Dawson Brunt and Morrison were godsends to my club, and other honourable mentions:Stephen Reid, Boaz Myhill, Graham Dorrans, Yusuf Mulumbu, Paul Scharner and MAF. Oh, and a very committed, hard as nails owner/chairman is a must, too. And I reckon there are a few more players I could mention……

Oh, and avoid massive debt. Parachute payments are useless if they go straight out of the coffers. Oh, and Super Kev.

“……a very committed, hard as nails owner/chairman is a must….” So City have had it then until a sale. Note Myhill mention too.
