NEWS: Diamé leaves City for Newcastle

The transfer of Mohamed Diamé to Championship side Newcastle has been confirmed.

The news that Diamé, scorer of THAT goal at Wembley just 67 days ago, was potentially on the move was first reported on Monday when Rafael Benítez’s club met the puzzlingly low £4.5m release clause written into his contract and the deal has now been done, despite the Tigers’ ridiculously late counter-offer of a new contract.

Diamé had not flown to Austria with City ahead of this evening’s friendly against Turkish Süper Lig side Çaykur Rizespor, and he will never rejoin those who won at Wembley. He departs after two years in East Yorkshire with 58 appearances and 13 goals to his name. Erratic but prodigiously gifted, it’d have been hard to see him being replaced even without the crisis presently engulfing the club.

He spoke with great affection towards Steve Bruce following his departure from the club, and it’s clear that Ehab Allam’s inept handling of the ex-City boss and the club in general is continuing to have grave repercussions, highlighted by one of our best players deciding that life in the Championship is preferable to remaining in the Premier League with City.

What a mess.

Look on the bright side, we may have Zola as manager who’s managerial record is West Ham, sacked, Watford, resigned, Cagliari, sacked, Al-Arabi, sacked, happy days.

Shows what a shite situation the club is in when quality first team players are happy to drop a division.

Mo has gone ( in my section of the KC we wanted him to go many times last season ), but my concern is the contracts always seem to be two years or thereabouts so more could be on the way and on the cheap. Manager position seems no clearer, the positive in me hopes the new guy will get a nice transfer kitty and know how to use it, but the realist in me thinks we will get a shit manager with no money to spend. The owners, can they really be so stupid as to f**k it up so we get relegated when there is money to be made, sadly it seems yes. Depressing times, I am on my way to the kitchen to get the whiskey bottle out.

Not sure what’s worse, City’s current state or the 24 hours out of date, cut and paste drivel from the Hull.Daily Fail.
In 40 years of supporting City this is the most depressing ever.
Strangely though, I actually think we’ll stay up and have new American owners.
Fair play to Mike Phelan and what we have left of a squad for just getting on with it.

Diame…luxury player with dodgy knees. Thanks for the Wembley goal though and upsetting Arsene! Will be interested to see if he lasts the 4 years of the contract…that we’d never have given him. He’s seen he can coast it in the Championship! Bruce said he couldn’t play 2 games a week I seem to recall. Price maybe a bit low but considering his injury with us… Would like to see a replacement who’s up for a relegation scrap, but we need a manager first!!! Impressed by Phelan and the depleted squad’s work, but it’s not the PL, so….?

The “still no manager” suggests it will be Chris Coleman.
Kind of agree with GJHDurham on Diame.
How many times did we question his commitment last season?
We MUST keep Abel and Harry though.
If Dio can cut it, then 2 strikers, 2 midfielders and 3 defenders required as a minimum.
Ehab out protest next week, needs to be in line with the superb red card protests.

Yeah, we remember,” It’s his club and he can do what he likes!” Well… It is and he has. Brilliant, fantastic, bloody wonderful. Happy new season to those believers, bet you can actually afford to go and protest now… Unlike some of us who have protested all along but who can no longer afford to do so. Sent some funds to HCSC, give em hell for us , we’ll be there in spirit.

    Fucking hell!

Even in opposition there is division. There is nothing, NOTHING, to be gained by infighting. That’s exactly what the Allams want – divide and rule.

SO WHAT if pro-name changers now see the light? Isn’t that what we have been wanting, for fuck’s sake? So when they do, why moan and bitch, yes bitch, about it? Typical, TYPICAL City supporters, or some of them. Rather spend a lifetime being bitter and spiteful against fellow supporters than uniting to get rid of the worst owners we have ever had.

Ok, be sceptical about those who have changed their mind if you want – but WHAT DO YOU WANT? Do you want the pro-name changers to keep their views, or do you want them to change them? Make up your mind, and when you get what you want don’t moan about it, FFS!!!
