NEWS: Aaron Mclean loaned to Ipswich

City have confirmed that Aaron Mclean is briefly leaving the club on loan, with Championship strugglers Ipswich the fortunate recipients of his services for the rest of the season.

It’s been a frustrating season at City for Mclean, who’s scored just once in the League all season, though he’s also notched a couple in the League Cup. With manager Steve Bruce favouring Aluko and Simpson up front and with Nick Proschwitz seemingly preferred as an option from the bench, appearances have been limited – he’s not been seen since the win at Nottingham Forest five weeks ago.

It probably calls his career at City into question, though one thing that isn’t in doubt is his ferocious workrate. Ipswich have made an extremely astute signing in their bid to survive relegation. Meanwhile, if the manager is willing to let one of his attacking options go, who might he be bringing in…?

I can only think the embarrassment about the size of Proschwitz’s cost is keeping him ahead of the very industrious McLean, we need to be tapping up who ever we were in competition with to buy the German and ship him out soon, Aaron is much more of a threat off the bench.
Sad to see a player who gives a full 90 minutes overlooked.
Good luck Aaron, hope you bang them in for McCarthy…

There’s a name for someone as hard working and industrious as Aaron Mclean. Midfielder. Unfortunately were blessed with many, many good examples of those. However, he is a fine example of a footballer who will make a lovely husband for someone someday. Just not us.

He’ll follow the Jon Walters, Arron Wilbraham, Keith Andrews path rather than the better trodden Michael Bridges, John Bostock, Caleb Folan one.
