James Harper has joined League One strugglers Wycombe Wanderers on a month’s loan.
The 31 year old has been this season’s forgotten player at the Circle, making only one Championship appearance – as a late substitute at Nottingham Forest – and has not featured in any of Nick Barmby’s first team squads since the change of management.
Harper joined the Tigers on a free transfer in the summer of 2010 after a short spell at Sheffield United and almost a decade at Reading. He was a regular in the centre of midfield last season, dividing opinions over his languid manner which was often effective but also sometimes a tad slow. His biggest problem, aside from being really scruffy on the pitch, seemed to be putting away good goalscoring opportunities from a yard out, although he did score one brilliant goal from distance in the 1-1 draw against his former club Reading.
This season he has been completely frozen out by the good form of Paul McKenna and Corry Evans, and has only started one match – the calamitous home defeat by Macclesfield Town in the Carling Cup. While some of us rated him as a player, it’s hard to say he has ever been missed this season and he will be a very good asset in League One.

There is a God! They’re “delighted” to sign him……have they seen him play!!??
