RESULT: Chesterfield 0 City 2

The Tigers made it five wins from five pre-season games this afternoon, winning their final friendly fixture 2-0 at Third Division side Chesterfield.

For the first half at the snappily-named B2Net Stadium, Nigel Pearson fielded: Gulacsi; Rosenior, Chester, Hobbs (c), Dudgeon; Koren, Evans, Brady, McKenna; Fryatt, Adebola. That looks rather like the XI we expect to take to the field against Blackpool in six days, and it proved too strong for the home side. Fryatt hit the bar after a minute, had a shot cleared off the line later on before eventually scoring on 27 with a sharp finish from about twelve yards.

City introduced the sextet of Basso, Dawson, Devitt, Cairney, Harper and Pusic at the break, and a further three on hour when East, Atkinson and Barmby coming on. The game was made safe with fifteen minutes left when Chester met a Devitt corner. The result rounds off a successful pre-season for the Tigers, who are scoring goals and playing well. Six days to go…
