He may have made a bit of a dick of himself last season, pouting about not playing much and blogging his dissatisfaction to the world, but that’s Deano, gobby and passionate about playing for City. Though he left under a bit of a cloud, there is no doubting the man’s contribution to the Tiger cause.
He was a bright spark amongst low wattage during the dark Dolan years, his sale to Aberdeen effectively allowed the poverty stricken club to continue and upon his return 12 years later he scored the goals to keep us in the Championship before scoring a beaut at Wembley to take us into the Premier League.
When it comes to inspired play and important goals, Deano is a human highlight reel for Hull City. He is loved outside of Hull too, Aberdeen fans will lovingly recount the tale of the mad Englishman who received 3 red cards in a single game, heh! It was fitting then, that the Dons provide the opposition in a testimonial at the KC Stadium. Our trusty cameraman covered the game…
Ever the crowd pleaser, Deano complies with requests to write on peoples clothes….
…then has a lie down on the KC turf.
This lad shows his unbridled joy at meeting Kamil Zayatte and Stephen Mouyokolo.
In a tribute to Michael Jackson, Deano moonwalks onto the pitch…
…where a guard of honour clap their approval.
Deano started the game for City, but Darlo would only let him play for a few minutes each half. Bah!
New boy Seyi Olofinjana is a meaty presence in midfield.
Anthony Gardner wins this aerial battle. Oh how we need him to stay fit this year.
Geo tests the Dons defence, the new Premier League balls look crap don’t they?
The Duke quarterbacks a pass to Andy Dawson.
He couldn’t stop a deflected header that gave Aberdeen the lead though.
‘Angry gnat’ Craig Fagan was up to his usual opposition irritating tricks.
Blimey, Leigh Palin has let himself go. At half time, former Tiger favourites have a kickabout with some
Darlo meffs, wearing black and amber again were Billy Askew, Richard Jobson, err, Willo, and…
Rambo Billy Whitehurst , who terrorised defenders in City”s name once more. Huzzah!
Deano turned out for the Dons in the second half, the splitter!
Goal or not, Deano was doing a Ravanelli celebration.
City actually tested the Don’s netman in this game. Once.
If Peter pulls them up much further, he’ll give himself the world’s first ‘sock wedgie’.
The Tiger Nation salute a true Tigers hero.
The admirable Aberdeen following show Deano love too.
Whereas City tried to gag Deano, rumour has it Darlo are so relaxed about media matters,
they’ll let Deano commentate on the games he’s playing in live on Sky Sports! Lies.

Great pics – and captions – thanks, for those who couldn’t get there.
