NEWS – Myhill signs new deal

Hull City goalkeeper Boaz Myhill has signed a new contract at the KC Stadium which will* tie him to the club until 2012.

The American-born Welsh international custodian will complete nine years at the club if he sees out the deal, having joined from Aston Villa’s reserves in 2003, in a move which famously gazumped Stockport County, for whom Myhill had been playing on loan.

Myhill immediately took over from Paul Musselwhite and has been the first-choice stopper ever since, barring a spell last season when long-term understudy Matt Duke was given the gloves, and while some still question his command of the box, he has unquestionably proved himself as a fine keeper who made telling contributions to all three promotions, as well as last season’s survival in the Premier League.

*in theory, obviously, as Michael Turner had ages to run on his contract….
