The Tigers today unveiled two new signings in the shape of Stephen Hunt from Reading and Kamel Ghilas from Celta Vigo. Both players have been signed on four year contracts and bring the number of summer recruits so far to five, joining Steven Mouyokolo, Seyi Olofinjana and Jozy Altidore at the Circle.
Hunt’s fee is being reported as ‘undisclosed’, but the figure is widely believed to be around the £3-£3.5million mark. Ghilas is thought to have cost half that at £1.7million and represents great value considering Cardiff City were holding out for £5million for an unproven top level player in Ross McCormack.
Both Paul Duffen and Phil Brown have also confirmed that City have tabled a bid for Real Madrid striker Álvaro Negredo, with Brown confirming discussions have been ongoing with Los Blancos for three to four weeks already, with Duffen travelling over to Madrid to try and conclude the deal.
A player who will not be joining Hull City this summer is Henri Camara. The former Stoke and Wigan striker was expected to sign this week but Brown feels his style of play is too similar to that of Kamel Ghilas and therefore will not be pursuing a deal.
More to follow.
