Jozy Altidore will miss the season opener at Chelsea today because of work permit issues. The 19 year old American striker told his Twitter followers that the work permit process isn’t yet complete and he remains in the United States awaiting completion of the necessary paperwork.
“Bad news guys still in the states trying to sort things out with my work permit. There is a lil more work that has to be done.”, posted Altidore, who came on a substitute for the United States midweek in a 2-1 World Cup qualifying loss in Mexico .
Jozy’s absence increases the likelihood of a start for Algerian forward Khamil Ghilas, who signed from Celta Vigo this week along with Petr Cech’s skull caving pal Stephen Hunt.
