According to that creditworthy canon the Hull Daily Mail, City’s financial woes are set to be banished as chairman Nick Buchanan has pledged to ‘plough £500,000 of his own money into the club’. The Mail’s City reporter John Fieldhouse gushed : ‘The money should be available later this week and it is believed to be one of the biggest single investments in the history of professional sport in the city’. Well, if the HDM says it is so, then it must be, mustn’t it?

City have indicated that they will be interested in moving to a new stadium at the Circle. Chairman Nick Buchanan has stated that the Tigers will be supporting the venture. Hull City Council have said funding for the stadium will be withheld without a written statement from City declaring their intent to move home. Although that written confirmation has not yet been provided, it now looks likely that Boothferry Park, City’s home since 1946, has just two and a half seasons of service left. The new 30,000 all-seated stadium is expected to be ready for the start of the 2002/3 season.
